Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven experience in a culinary role specifically within an Asian or Japanese restaurant setting
- Knowledge of Japanese cooking techniques and menu items
- Ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and sanitation practices
- Strong communication skills to coordinate with kitchen and front-of-house staff
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks
- Flexibility to work weekends and varied shifts
- Commitment to maintaining a clean and organized workspace
Job Qualifications
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or culinary roles within an Asian restaurant or food service setting
- Strong knowledge of Japanese cuisine and traditional cooking techniques preferred
- Experience with menu planning and meal preparation in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of food safety standards and proper handling procedures
- Excellent knife skills and familiarity with various kitchen tools and equipment
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
- Prior experience in fine dining or the food industry is advantageous
- Strong attention to detail, cleanliness, and organization skills
- Flexibility to work full-time or part-time hours including weekends as needed
Job Duties
- Prepare and cook traditional Japanese dishes including Teriyaki, tempura, ramen, and other menu items with precision and attention to detail
- Assist in menu planning and recipe development to ensure consistency and quality
- Maintain high standards of food safety and sanitation in accordance with health regulations
- Handle food preparation tasks such as chopping, marinating, and portioning ingredients
- Ensure all food is cooked to the correct temperature and presentation standards
- Manage kitchen inventory including ordering supplies and rotating stock
- Collaborate with front-of-house staff to deliver excellent customer service
- Adhere to all safety protocols including proper knife skills and handling of kitchen equipment
- Support catering events or special functions as needed
