- must possess the ability to use cleaning equipment and supplies safely and effectively
- must demonstrate ability to communicate effectively with other staff and volunteers
- be prepared to deploy to disaster-affected areas often with short notice

Job Duties
- Clean and sanitize facilities including shelters restrooms offices and other assigned areas using appropriate cleaning solutions and equipment
- sweep mop and vacuum floors removing debris and maintaining a clean and safe environment
- empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste properly
- clean and disinfect surfaces such as countertops tables and doorknobs to prevent the spread of germs and maintain hygiene
- replenish supplies such as soap paper towels and toilet paper in restrooms and other areas
- clean up spills and other messes including those involving potentially hazardous materials following established safety procedures
- operate cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers buffers and carpet extractors safely and effectively
- maintain cleaning equipment and supplies ensuring they are in good working condition
- assist with the setup and breakdown of cleaning areas
- perform heavy cleaning tasks such as cleaning up after flooding or other water damage
- follow all safety protocols and procedures including the use of personal protective equipment ppe
- perform other duties as assigned
