Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution
  • two years of relevant janitorial or maintenance experience for residential properties
  • valid driver's license and vehicle insurance acceptable to the university
  • ability to perform strenuous physical activities such as snow shoveling, lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing stairs
  • ability to use tools of the trade like snow blowers, lawn mowers, drills, and saws safely and efficiently
  • capacity to occasionally work from ladders or lifts
  • successful completion of university safety training
  • effective communication skills
  • ability to work 40 hours weekly
  • availability for on-call emergency response

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution
  • two years experience as a janitor helper or cleaning/maintenance specialist for residential property
  • valid driver’s license and acceptable vehicle insurance
  • demonstrated successful customer service skills
  • computer proficiency for routine processes and ability to learn new software
  • ability to read, write, and understand work orders and program guidelines
  • ability to follow verbal and written instructions and organize tasks effectively
  • skill in establishing harmonious working relationships with team members and residents
  • completion of required safety training courses
  • ability to remain flexible and patient during peak seasonal workloads, including training seasonal help if needed

Job Duties

  • common space cleaning and service including light bulb inspections and minor repairs
  • perform apartment and storage locker cleaning and related minor repairs during turnover
  • provide first-level customer service including move-in orientations, showing apartments to prospective residents, answering calls, and emergency response
  • assist with service coordination such as posting notices and providing access for contractors and management
  • perform grounds maintenance including landscaping and snow removal
  • assist in preventive maintenance activities including inspections and minor equipment service
  • participate in special projects and office-wide initiatives
  • respond to emergency situations as needed and be on call 24/7
