  • completion of company orientation and food safety and sanitation training upon hire
  • ability to function in a fast-paced retail environment with detailed and precise tasks
  • ability to work with customers attentively
  • ability to lift 50 lbs and manage heavier loads with assistance

Job Duties

  • provides superior customer service
  • takes orders from customers by telephone or in person
  • answers customer questions regarding products
  • assists them with selections
  • prepares, packages, and merchandises fresh product effectively
  • slices, packages, labels, rotates, and culls products for poor quality
  • assists in technical areas as needed such as basic set-up and clean-up processes
  • uses suggestive selling techniques and basic product knowledge to meet customer needs and build department sales
  • cleans and sanitizes display cases
  • operates and maintains equipment properly
  • complies with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards
  • complies with department and store operating procedures
  • records production and shrink to aid in production planning
  • takes care of service counter customers
  • uses ordering system applications
  • performs inventory management processes as required
  • serves and packages products at customer request
  • educates customers on preparation and reheating instructions
  • cuts, slices, dices, chops food in preparation for chef
  • works independently with minimal supervision
  • uses advanced selling techniques and advanced product knowledge
  • manages Make Ready application for e-Commerce orders
  • assists in training other partners
  • communicates product inventory concerns to lead or manager
  • provides product demos and education to customers
  • ensures all sanitation and maintenance tasks for deli slicers are followed
