Job Requirements

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Hold a valid driver’s license
  • Pass drug screening including hair and urine tests
  • Pass background verification
  • Complete and pass one-week paid training at Atlanta Training Center with 85% minimum average
  • Wear protective equipment such as hard hat, hearing protection, and safety-toe boots
  • Work various shifts including nonstandard workweeks and overtime
  • Meet color vision and hearing requirements as per FRA regulations
  • Complete annual safety training and pass examinations
  • Be a member of the collective bargaining agreement
  • Pass post-offer medical examination
  • May be required to provide sensitive information for customs and security clearance

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year of experience in a heavy industrial environment preferred
  • One year of experience operating heavy machinery preferred
  • Three years of outdoor work experience preferred
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office applications
  • Knowledge of hazmat regulations and safety
  • Familiarity with FRA and AAR regulations
  • Strong physical agility and ability to work in fast-paced environments

Job Duties

  • Ascend and descend rail cars
  • Inspect and secure trailers, containers, and intermodal flatcars
  • Assist lift operators in positioning equipment
  • Operate powered IBC carts and other vehicles
  • Operate utility tractors and lift machines to move and handle equipment
  • Connect and disconnect chassis components including airlines
  • Perform clerical duties using Microsoft Office and computer systems
  • Respond to hazardous material incidents and minor spills
  • Apply FRA and AAR securement regulations
  • Inspect and maintain securement devices and intermodal equipment
  • Perform end-of-train device inspection and airbrake tests
  • Work collaboratively to achieve productivity and customer service goals
