Job Duties
- Executes instructional activities with individual students or small groups of students following teacher direction and demonstration
- provides assistance to students during special classes such as art and music
- assists students in special education and general education classes
- assists in preparation of materials for class, classroom activities, assignments, location of supplementary materials from school library and other resources areas
- implements behavior management programs designed by teachers and/or school psychologist
- counts and records specific student behaviors
- administers procedures in the positive behavior support plan PBIS
- monitors student use of instructional equipment
- provides general maintenance of equipment including cleaning and disinfecting
- serves as a source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher
- maintains confidentiality and high ethical standards in handling student information
- assists students leaving and entering transportation vehicles and accompanies students to and from classroom
- assists with supervision during emergency drills
- assists students with activities of daily living such as eating, grooming, bathing, and hygiene related to toileting
- monitors the incidence and prevalence of designated health problems or medical conditions
- observes and intervenes to redirect inappropriate behavior
- assists, monitors, and guides students to pay attention, participate in activities, and complete tasks
- prepares, assists, cooks and serves a variety of food items for breakfast and lunch programs
- maintains sanitary work environment including cleaning cooking surfaces, utensils, trays, pots and pans, floors, and counters
- maintains high standards for food quality and appearance following food safety guidelines
- operates all kitchen equipment efficiently and timely
- cleans and inspects kitchen appliances and work areas
- demonstrates high personal hygiene standards including proper hand washing protocol and handling of food items
- understands basic kitchen first aid and reports accidents
- ensures all equipment is turned off at the end of the day
- demonstrates knowledge of disaster/safety actions and fire extinguisher use
- requisitions food supplies and kitchen equipment based on estimates
- attends work-related training as requested
- lifts, carries, pushes, or pulls weights up to 50 pounds
- stands and walks on hard surfaces for long periods
- adapts to temperature changes and works amid background noise
- assists in lifting or carrying students when necessary
- performs physical activities such as stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
- requires regular attendance and physical presence at the job.
