The Jefferson County Sheriff Detentions Division is a vital law enforcement entity dedicated to maintaining security, order, and rehabilitation within correctional facilities. As an individual contributor within this division, the Inmate Worker Crew Lead (SO) plays a crucial role in managing inmate labor programs that contribute to the operational functionality and cleanliness of the Sheriff's complex and surrounding community areas. Job Requirements
- GED or high school diploma
- Minimum one year of relevant work experience
- Ability to supervise and train inmate workers
- Knowledge of safety standards and correctional health care compliance
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to perform administrative tasks including report writing and inventory management
- Willingness to work in a correctional facility environment with inmate contact
- Drug free workplace compliance and ability to pass drug testing
Job Qualifications
- GED or high school diploma
- Minimum one year of work experience
- Preferred one year of supervisory experience
- Preferred experience in commercial or industrial laundry operations, landscape maintenance, and/or custodial service work
Job Duties
- Plan, assign, direct, supervise and coordinate inmate worker tasks, assignments, and schedules
- Evaluate inmate workers performance, necessary training and the final work product
- Supervise and direct inmate worker crews engaged in various areas of operations
- Provide leadership by solving inmate worker disputes, assigning jobs, and issuing proper safety equipment
- Provide informal counseling, conduct inmate escorting tasks, and oversee meals and breaks for inmate workers
- Maintain and update inmate worker computer reports, line inspection reports, and inventories
- Conduct product research, obtain needed supplies and equipment
- Attend vendor meetings, training seminars, and unit meetings
- Perform other duties as assigned
