Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business or related field
  • professional knowledge of sales and use tax rules and processes
  • experience managing budgets, people and projects
  • proven record of excellence in a professional services or tax organization
  • technical writing and research experience in tax context
  • ability to prioritize multiple complex projects
  • strong influencing skills
  • confidence to question existing processes
  • willingness to travel
  • ability to work in a balanced hybrid environment

Job Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business or a related discipline
  • professional knowledge across sales and use tax processes, concepts and tools
  • experience managing budgets, people and projects
  • proven excellence in a professional services or tax organization
  • technical writing and tax research experience
  • ability to prioritize multiple complex projects
  • strong influencing skills and confidence to question existing processes
  • willingness to travel as needed and work in a hybrid environment
  • CPA qualification, certification from Institute for Professionals in Taxation, CMI designation, or membership in a state bar

Job Duties

  • Handling multi-state sales and use tax recovery projects for large clients
  • researching clients' business operations and building client relationships
  • identifying applicable sales and use tax exemptions and exclusions
  • recognizing potential overpayment opportunities or risks and communicating these to clients
  • monitoring changes in tax law to provide current advice
  • developing clear and intelligent plans for sales and use tax recoveries
  • preparing and defending sales and use tax refund claims
  • managing and motivating a team of professionals
  • ensuring team members have skills, knowledge, and opportunities to reach their potential
