Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • minimum six months relevant culinary experience
  • ability to work various shifts including nights weekends and holidays
  • physical ability to move bend lift carry push pull and place objects up to 40 pounds
  • ability to stand or walk for entire work shift
  • repetitive motion use of arms and hands
  • knowledge of sanitation standards
  • ability to follow food preparation procedures
  • willingness to work under pressure in fast paced environment
  • ability to maintain cleanliness and organization
  • teamwork and communication skills

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum six months to three years relevant culinary experience preferably in high volume upscale restaurant
  • thorough knowledge of food handling and preparation techniques
  • good eye-hand coordination to use kitchen equipment
  • prior experience including sautéing, broiling and fry cooking
  • basic math skills to understand recipes and measurements
  • ability to work cohesively with co-workers within and outside department
  • ability to handle stressful situations with calmness and professionalism
  • working knowledge of sanitation standards
  • ability to utilize culinary tools and taste and smell for quality
  • highly motivated self-starter focused on quality, organization, cleanliness and teamwork
  • ability to work in a fast-paced high pressure environment executing delegated tasks
  • must be able to work various shifts including weekends and holidays

Job Duties

  • Communicate with the chef to learn daily work tasks and complete prep list
  • be knowledgeable of plate presentations and preparations of all menu items
  • prepare all items on prep list following standard procedure or supervisor instructions
  • maintain high food quality by inspecting products during prep and service
  • check portion control, weights and counts prior to function
  • fire all food for service and serve online
  • maintain and check cooking times and temperatures
  • follow food storage procedures when handling and returning food to walk-in
  • maintain cleanliness of work area
  • keep walk-in, prep area and equipment up to health department and company standards
  • prepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards and portion standards
  • date and rotate perishables and ensure proper temperatures
  • check pars, determine preparation needs and note shortages
  • return unused food items properly covered and dated
  • cooperate with cooks for event or special meal requirements
  • perform job-related duties as assigned by culinary leadership
