Job Qualifications

  • Diploma or some college education or equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
  • minimum two years experience in restaurant service
  • experience in hotel operations, particularly food and beverage, preferred
  • experience with luxury or ultra-luxury property preferred
  • California Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certificate and Food Handler Card preferred
  • minimum 21 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages

Job Duties

  • Take room service orders over the phone
  • answer questions on menu selections and check with kitchen staff
  • answer guest questions or concerns regarding wines
  • place and log call back for room service order
  • notify guests and management of delivery delays
  • communicate allergies, dietary needs, and special requests to kitchen
  • maintain cleanliness of work areas
  • record transactions in MICROS system
  • complete closing reports including MICROS reports
  • process all payment methods
  • follow departmental policies, service procedures, and standards
  • ensure superior daily service quality
  • answer calls within three rings and handle multiple calls efficiently
  • make menu and wine recommendations
  • handwrite orders with specific instructions
  • refer special guest requests to manager
  • stay informed of menu availability
  • coordinate amenities delivery using PMS system
  • communicate allergies to chef and manager
  • coordinate tray pickup with housekeeping and maintain logs
  • assist guests with non-dining requests
  • manage guest communication regarding service delays
  • log orders for amenities, cakes, and flowers
  • monitor work area sanitation
  • obtain and input order information accurately
  • call guests for feedback after service
  • participate in quality control activities
  • interact professionally with guests and staff
  • resolve guest and staff issues swiftly
  • perform various duties without loss of efficiency
  • maintain clean, safe work area and grooming standards
  • embody company culture and values
  • be knowledgeable about hotel services and local attractions
  • perform other duties as required
