Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • experienced handling air and ocean import shipments
  • supervisory experience
  • Cargowise (C1) experience is preferred
  • thorough knowledge of freight forwarding
  • prior experience in global logistics preferred
  • customer service experience required

Job Qualifications

  • Must have 5+ years experience handling both air and ocean import shipments as a freight forwarder
  • must have 2+ years of supervisory experience
  • Cargowise (C1) experience is preferred
  • strong customer service experience
  • excellent organizational skills
  • excellent problem-solving skills
  • ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
  • detail oriented, able to multitask and meet deadlines
  • self-motivated, able to work on a team and independently
  • able to perform the essential duties of this position without posing a direct threat to the health or safety of self or others
  • able to interact positively and effectively with co-workers, subordinates and managers

Job Duties

  • Oversee the Ocean and Air Import department transportation movements
  • monitor and maintain workflow within the department
  • manage reports provided by the branch manager or corporate office such as accounting, PODs, KPIs
  • file FMC for Ocean and check existing rates in place for validity
  • quote rates to overseas offices and agents for both Air and Ocean Import transportation
  • assist sales with rates and transportation options
  • meet with truck vendors, NVOCC representatives, and shipping lines to address any issues or discuss future business
  • instruct overseas agents on shipping procedures for customers
  • assist Import staff with any shipment issues they might have
  • meet with customers as needed
  • complete shipments in accordance with the defined business process management guidelines
  • direct the work assignments of Import Specialists
  • conduct performance evaluations for all direct reports annually
  • recommend employee hiring, promoting and termination decisions
  • identify and resolve personnel issues
  • assist and guide staff in addressing and resolving customer concerns
  • provide training and guidance to staff members to develop skill levels
  • review time and attendance of staff utilizing company time tracking system
  • ensure business processes are implemented according to company guidelines
  • provide back-up for the department during employee absence and/or increased business
