Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Licensed Customs Broker
- 5-7 years of required experience, 7+ years preferred
- Average travel requirements
- Strong knowledge of CBP rules and regulations
- Strong knowledge of the HTS and commodity classification
- Strong knowledge of various transportation modes including air freight, LCL, FCL as well as knowledge of domestic trucking and rail movements
- Strong analytical and conflict resolution skills
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Proficient in MS Office Suite

Job Duties
- Supervises all personnel assigned within the Import group
- Organizes and assigns work according to skill level, knowledge and experience
- Monitors performance and progress of mutually agreed upon goals
- Approves/disapproves vacation and business travel
- Engages in disciplinary actions
- Conducts performance evaluations
- Ensures customs clearance operations by completing established processes including verification of documents, classification of incoming material and calculation of duties or tariffs
- Uses computerized brokerage system to transmit data
- Controls and prepares Import Security Filings to establish timely transmission without penalty
- Administers Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) operations, control the flow of goods through the zone, control of in bond goods receipt in accordance with the FTZ Operations Manual
- Uses computerized FTZ software to admit goods and clear bill of ladings through AMS
- Develops and implements airfreight and sea freight logistic plans to maximize service and/or lower costs
- Analyzes import volumes and provide recommendation for change
- Reviews import documentation from shippers
- Recommends best course of action for Purchasing to lower duty rate and/or improve delivery
- Schedules and expedites deliveries of all imports
- Prepares U.S. Census Bureau, Customs and other governmental agency documentation as required
- Provides problem resolution and information requests from government agencies and internal customers
- Secures release of manifest from shipping lines
- Communicates information to affect timely drayage
- Ensures proper and timely document filing and payment of customs duties and payments to truck lines, freight forwarders, terminals, etc.
- Maintains audit documentation and files, reference library of applicable CFRs, Harmonized Tariff Schedules and related data
- Oversees compliance and accuracy of support personnel work
- Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned
