Job Requirements

  • Three years warehouse and/or shipping/receiving experience
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to sit for long periods with frequent interruptions
  • Ability to repeatedly get up and down from chairs and reach or bend for several hours
  • Must possess manual dexterity for typical office work
  • Ability to talk, hear, and see sufficiently to complete tasks
  • Ability to carry or move objects weighing up to 20 pounds
  • Ability to use various electronic tools
  • Ability to collaborate and relate effectively with colleagues
  • Willingness to travel by automobile or airplane for business purposes
  • Ability to work in cold facility operations environments for short or extended periods
  • Ability to perform complex work activities including reasoning, negotiating, and instructing
  • Willingness to accept constructive feedback from management

Job Qualifications

  • Three years warehouse and/or shipping/receiving experience
  • Import-export experience preferred
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations accurately
  • Experience in food, warehousing, or transportation industries preferred
  • Knowledge of USDA regulations and government agency procedures related to imports
  • Familiarity with Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) system preferred
  • Ability to learn and use Warehouse Management Systems such as JDA and GLS
  • Demonstrated problem solving and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Job Duties

  • Tracks containers in the port system by logging on to the Port Authority tracking system
  • Documents vessel delays and container tracking, verifies per diem charges
  • Coordinates fumigation with USDA and other agencies by communicating inspection needs and providing documentation
  • Tracks cold re-treatment or continuation of cold treatment with USDA and internally, investigates variances
  • Coordinates inspections with Customs and Border Protection
  • Acts as liaison with customs brokers to arrange container deliveries and pick-ups, resolves discrepancies, and follows up
  • Prepares import-export documentation, maintains logs for fumigation, inspections, and cold treatments
  • Performs other duties as assigned
