Job Requirements

  • maintain weight not to exceed 250 pounds
  • be less than 70 years old
  • maintain positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues, EMS representatives, hospitals, and the public
  • pilot must have flown in category within previous 24 months
  • non-standard schedule
  • compliance with Air Methods' employment policies
  • reside in AK, WA, CA, OR, NV, AZ, ID, UT, or NM
  • able to perform essential functions satisfactorily

Job Qualifications

  • associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
  • two to five years' related experience and/or training
  • commercial pilot experience in category within previous 24 months
  • 2500 total flight hours with minimum 2000 hours in category
  • 1000 hours PIC in category
  • 500 hours rotor wing turbine time
  • 500 hours cross-country flight time with at least 50 hours at night
  • 100 hours unaided night as PIC with substitution allowed for NVG time
  • 75 hours actual or simulated instrument time with minimum 50 hours in flight including 20 hours in actual instrument conditions
  • instrument rating for category and class of aircraft
  • fixed wing multiengine rating for twin engine aircraft
  • commercial single engine land rating for single engine aircraft
  • first or second class FAA medical certificate

Job Duties

  • Operate Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner
  • complete pre-flight inspections verifying aircraft airworthiness
  • act as final authority on aircraft operations and safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment
  • be thoroughly familiar with all aircraft and medical systems at operational area
  • ensure medical flight teams are familiar and comfortable with medical interior and systems
  • complete all required documentation
  • conduct detailed flight planning with little notice
  • participate regularly in company meetings, activities, projects, committees, and community outreach
  • perform other duties as assigned
