Clarksville Veterinary Emergency & Specialty is a leading veterinary specialty and emergency hospital established in 2020, located in Clarksville, Tennessee - a city known as Tennessee's fastest-growing community and situated approximately 45 minutes northwest of Nashville. Job Requirements

  • Veterinary assistant or licensed veterinary technician certification preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of related veterinary hospital experience
  • Proficient in veterinary triage and diagnostics
  • Strong understanding of veterinary medicine, pharmacology, and common diseases
  • Ability to perform veterinary procedures and medication administration
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Physical capability to lift animals up to 150 pounds
  • Fluent English language skills required

Job Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of veterinary hospital experience or a combination of experience and education
  • Highly skilled in veterinary triage, diagnostics, and nursing
  • Strong veterinary medical knowledge including understanding of common disease processes and pharmacology
  • Ability to perform diagnostics, treatments, and procedures quickly and efficiently
  • Excellent customer service skills and critical thinking
  • Team-oriented attitude
  • Fluent in English speaking and reading
  • Multilingual skills are a plus

Job Duties

  • Determines levels of triage for ER patients
  • Obtains history and enters information into electronic patient care system
  • Assists veterinarians in all aspects of care
  • Provides restraint for physical examinations
  • Discusses estimates and treatment plans with clients
  • Performs diagnostics, procedures and administers medications including IV catheter placement, blood work, urinalysis, radiographs, CT scans, CPR, sedation, anesthesia, and medication administration
  • Calculates medication dosages and monitors for adverse effects
  • Performs advanced procedures such as central line placement, abdominocentesis, thoracocentesis, feeding tube placement, and urinary catheter placement (preferred)
  • Discharges patients including filling medication prescriptions and educating clients on at-home care and discharge instructions
