The Wilmette Park District, established in 1908, is a respected governmental agency dedicated to the stewardship, development, and maintenance of natural areas, parks, and leisure facilities in the Village of Wilmette, Illinois. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Parks and Recreation, Sports/Business Management or related field
  • Minimum seven years of progressive experience in Parks and Recreation
  • Strong organizational management skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to interpret written and oral instructions
  • Ability to solve problems with few concrete variables
  • Proficiency in writing and presentation
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and specialized software
  • Valid Driver's License
  • CPR/First Aid certification within three months of hire
  • Certified Pool Operator or Aquatics Facility Operator credential
  • Completion of annual district-required trainings including Sexual Harassment and Blood Borne Pathogens
  • Ability to work extra hours during in-season
  • Availability for weekend shifts
  • Ability to operate a Zamboni within three months
  • Willingness to participate in safety training and follow safety procedures

  • Skilled in writing reports, business correspondence and manuals
  • Effective presenter to boards, groups, staff, clients and the public
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Wrike, Paycom, Incode, and RecTrac

Job Duties

  • Recruit, hire, onboard, supervise, and evaluate full-time supervisors
  • Indirect supervision of part-time operations staff, instructors, coaches, and seasonal employees
  • Oversee recruitment, hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation of part-time Aquatics and Ice staff
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with policies and laws
  • Lead staff meetings and attend district-wide meetings
  • Oversee development, supervision and evaluation of all facility programs and events
  • Set vision, culture, customer experience expectations and direction for the facility
  • Analyze and evaluate financial data, usage, industry trends and customer satisfaction
  • Oversee programs and services to meet customer needs and expectations
  • Maintain professional relationships with contractors, renters and partners
  • Develop and implement business plans for Ice and Aquatics operations
  • Seek new revenue opportunities
  • Make recommendations on facility operations and capital projects
  • Manage concessions and facility sponsorships
  • Oversee pre-season and in-season staff training
  • Monitor and approve payroll
  • Implement purchasing and inventory control
  • Coordinate facility start-up and closure procedures
  • Prepare reports on programs and operations
  • Create and execute annual budget
  • Collaborate on marketing plans and facility rentals
  • Attend relevant conferences and workshops
  • Participate in Recreation Internship Program
  • Uphold district strategic and sustainability plans
  • Master Zamboni operation and staff training
  • Participate in Park District special events
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
