Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Five to seven years of relevant experience including supervisory roles
- Ability to maintain required government licenses and permits
- Proficiency in English language speaking, reading and writing
- Good communication skills both verbal and written
- Basic math and computational skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and maintenance software
- Understanding of budget and accounting software
- Knowledge of mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems
- Familiarity with building codes and safety regulations
- Ability to lead a team with minimal supervision
- Experience in procurement and contract management
Job Qualifications
- High school or equivalent education required
- Bachelor’s Degree or related technical school degree preferred
- Five to seven years in a major hotel, hospital, or building including four years in supervisory capacity
- Ability to obtain and/or maintain government required licenses, certificates or permits
- Possess or ability to acquire a first class operating engineer's license in boilers and air conditioning
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to read and write to facilitate communication
- Experience acting as team leader with minimal supervision
- Basic computational ability
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook and HotSOS maintenance program
- Knowledge of computer accounting programs and budgetary analysis
- Understanding of AAA and Forbes service standards
- Thorough knowledge of mechanical equipment such as chillers, boilers, water softeners and refrigeration
- Sound knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems and maintenance of power, water and fuel consumption records
- Experience with office procedures, procurement, bidding, city codes, building laws and blueprint reading
Job Duties
- Conduct walk-throughs and visually assess the safe and efficient maintenance and operation of the physical structure of the hotel including all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems and related equipment
- Verify completion of routine maintenance on public spaces, meeting rooms, ballrooms, outlets, back of house spaces, grounds, Golf Clubhouse, Lodge, Marina, tennis center, restaurants, water park, pool complexes, fitness center, spa and commercial spaces
- Verify completion of all repairs, replacement, and renovation projects to offices and employee work areas
- Assist in hiring, training, supervising, and disciplining department staff and all other staff under direction of the Engineering Department
- Adhere to all corporate purchasing policies including contractor bids, budgets, and schedules and follow safety procedures by the company and OSHA
- Maintain effective Energy Management and Preventive Maintenance programs and conduct training for other departments on equipment and energy use
- Inform the General Manager and department heads regularly regarding the condition of the building structure and systems, offering cost effective maintenance proposals
- Review and ensure all HOA/CDD billings are accurate and maintenance work on non-resort assets is properly billed to HOAs
- Supervise necessary repairs and maintenance throughout the hotel
- Prepare technical data, bidding, project work, alterations, and repairs documentation with knowledge of building codes
- Actively train in fire prevention, environmental health and safety, and engineering systems
- Oversee payrolls and prepare manpower schedules
- Oversee water treatment programs
- Attend morning walk arounds as required
- Represent the hotel in community and industry events
- Collaborate as a team player with all departments
- Provide constructive feedback and be a leader and role model to employees
