Job Requirements
- Must be 18 or older
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly
- Capacity to see clearly at more than 20 inches and less than 20 feet, with or without correction
- Color vision necessary
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment with noise, temperature extremes, and exposure to cleaning solvents
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to follow detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions
- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers
- Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions
- Ability to write identifying information and request supplies orally or in writing
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Physical ability to perform demanding tasks such as lifting, balancing, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, finger dexterity, and repetitive motions
Job Duties
- Provide prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions
- Smile and greet customers in a friendly manner in the department and throughout the store
- Make an effort to learn customers’ names and address them by name when possible
- Assist customers by escorting them to products, securing items, loading heavy items, noting customer suggestions, and enhancing their shopping experience
- Answer the telephone promptly and provide helpful service to callers
- Collaborate with co-workers to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment
- Clean woks, heat to proper temperature, and add oil for cooking
- Cook soups followed by meats
- Prepare vegetables and sauces by adding spices and other ingredients
- Combine ingredients with meat for cooking
- Monitor hot food cases and refill as necessary
- Order products and supplies or notify department head of needs
- Clean work area at the end of shift
- Fill cold cases with fresh-made food
- Prepare items for the next day including freezing meats
- Understand all aspects of the Hy-Chi kitchen
- Maintain strict adherence to hygiene and dress guidelines
- Follow company policies and store guidelines
- Report to work as scheduled and on time
- Check rice as time permits
- Take customer orders at Hy-Chi department counter when needed
- Assist in other store areas as necessary
- Perform other job related duties and special projects as required
