Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly
  • Visual acuity with or without correction and color vision
  • Physical ability to perform balancing, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, finger dexterity, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and communicate effectively
  • Must be punctual and reliable
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in food preparation or cooking preferred but not required
  • Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions
  • Basic arithmetic skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices is beneficial

Job Duties

  • Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store
  • Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner, whether the encounter takes place in the employee’s designated department or elsewhere in the store
  • Makes an effort to learn customers’ names and to address them by name whenever possible
  • Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach items, loading or unloading heavy items, and passing along customer suggestions
  • Answers the telephone promptly and provides friendly, helpful service
  • Works with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment
  • Prepares and cooks food such as soups, meats, and vegetables, combining ingredients and adding spices
  • Places food in hot cases, monitors amounts, and refills as necessary
  • Orders products and supplies when necessary or notifies department head of needs
  • Cleans work area at the end of the shift
  • Fills the cold case with fresh-made food
  • Prepares items for the next day after all other duties are completed
  • Maintains adherence to personal hygiene, dress standards, and company policies
  • Reports to work as scheduled and on time
