- minimum age 18
- high school diploma or equivalent
- completion of company orientation and food safety and sanitation training upon hire
- knowledge of computer systems and equipment such as PC, symbol, scales, label machine
- strong customer service skills

- ability to function in a fast-paced retail environment
- ability to safely lift and handle weight up to specified department standards

Job Duties
- provides superior customer service
- takes orders from customers by telephone or in person
- answers customer questions regarding products
- assists them with selections
- prepares, packages, and merchandises fresh product effectively
- slices, packages, labels, rotates, and culls products for poor quality
- assists in technical areas as needed
- uses suggestive selling techniques and basic product knowledge to meet customer needs and build department sales
- cleans and sanitizes display cases
- operates and maintains equipment properly
- complies with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards
- complies with department and store operating procedures
- performs additional department-specific responsibilities such as production planning in bakery, service counter customer care in deli, and packaging in prepared foods
