Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 1 year of progressive Human Resources experience in a hotel or related industry
  • Ability to handle long hours sometimes required
  • Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force frequently or constantly
  • Must maintain a warm and friendly demeanor
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to listen, understand, and clarify concerns
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions
  • Attend meetings and trainings as required
  • Participate in Management On Duty coverage as required
  • Maintain regular attendance
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming
  • Comply with hotel standards and regulations
  • Maintain confidentiality of information

Job Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of progressive Human Resources experience in a hotel or a related industry
  • Previous supervisory responsibility preferred
  • College course work in related field helpful
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Long hours sometimes required
  • Sedentary work involving exerting up to 10 pounds of force frequently or constantly
  • Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times
  • Effective verbal and written communication with all employee and guest levels
  • Ability to listen, understand, and clarify employee and guest concerns
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines
  • Approach all encounters in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner
  • Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings
  • Participate in M.O.D. coverage as required
  • Maintain regular attendance and comply with hotel standards
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming including wearing nametags
  • Comply with hotel standards and regulations for safe and efficient operations
  • Maximize productivity, identify problems, and implement solutions
  • Ability to handle problems effectively including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving
  • Ability to understand and evaluate complex information to meet objectives
  • Maintain confidentiality of information
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management

Job Duties

  • Administer insurance benefits, calculate billing totals, explain benefits, assist with completion of enrollment forms, and answer questions
  • Compile review list and distribute to departments
  • Compile Turnover Report, copy and distribute
  • Enter payroll information on computer including wage changes
  • Conduct prescreening interviews
  • Respond to unemployment claims and maintain unemployment logbook
  • Maintain new hire, termination, transfer and promotion logbooks
  • Audit hours worked in payroll reports for benefit eligibility
  • Compile wage surveys
  • Monitor and maintain Leave of Absence log
  • Monitor Workman’s Compensation claims and complete required reports
  • Answer questions regarding 401K Plan, vacation and benefits
  • Maintain complimentary room night log and process employee requests
  • Prepare and place recruitment advertising
  • Process paperwork for terminating employees
  • Maintain advertising logbook
  • Become certified trainer in all Human Resources training modules
  • Ensure compliance with all HR and related Loss Prevention SOPs
  • Participate in Highgate Hotel Enrichment Committee
  • Schedule and assist in Highgate Hotel Orientation
  • Write articles and take pictures for property newsletter
  • Assist with special projects and plan employee events
  • Coordinate Travel Reduction Program and conduct yearly transportation survey
  • Maintain First Aid log
