Job Requirements
- Be enrolled full-time in a degree seeking program
- undergraduate students must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours per semester
- graduate students must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours per semester
- able to work 20-25 hours per week during the school semester, up to 40 hours per week during the summer
- not to exceed 1500 hours per calendar year
- maintain student status throughout internship
- complete at least one year of college
- ability to work Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm
- strong oral and written communication skills
- able to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- meet physical requirements including computer operation and filing tasks
- able to work successfully with diverse groups
- remain alert and responsive to workplace dynamics
- willing to undergo testing if required
Job Qualifications
- At least one year of college completed
- pursuing a degree in human resources, communication, management, or related field
- six months experience in a general office or business environment
- proficient in Microsoft Office and related software applications
- ability to handle sensitive information confidentially
- strong attention to detail and accuracy
- ability to work independently and multitask in a fast-paced environment
- excellent customer service and communication skills
- ability to learn and navigate human capital management systems and other software
- maintain a professional and positive image of the utility
- adhere to company policies
Job Duties
- Greet applicants for recruitment
- assist applicants with completing applications online as necessary
- answer telephones and direct inquiries
- enter and maintain recruitment-related information in applicant tracking and HCM systems
- schedule appointments for pre-hire screening
- reconcile monthly expenses and forward to accounts payable
- assist with advertising in websites, newspapers, and periodicals
- log and prepare documents to track advertising expenses and results
- assist with job postings, applicant lists, website maintenance, and recruitment emails
- assist with screening applicants for required qualifications
- schedule and administer pre-employment testing of candidates
- contact internal and external candidates to arrange interviews
- make travel arrangements for out-of-town candidates and prepare necessary documents
- conduct reference checks including employment history, criminal background, and education verification
- prepare confidential correspondence, reports, memorandums, and maintain departmental files
- assist with maintenance of the ID badge system including taking photographs
- file and maintain electronic files
- assist with employment verification
- represent City Utilities at job fairs to promote job opportunities
- perform other related duties as assigned by HR staff and management
