Job Requirements
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- one-year experience cooking food for large groups
- one-year experience performing security or social service work preferred
- any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides required knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Serve-Safe Certification

Job Duties
- Accepts and processes residents staying in shelter overnight
- monitors the activity of residents on an assigned shift ensuring safety, security and compliance to house rules
- maintains accurate and complete records containing pertinent information
- ensures that the shelter is maintained in a clean and proper order
- prepares, cooks and serves meals and snacks in accordance with established guidelines and schedules
- cleans kitchen and equipment
- maintains inventory of kitchen supplies and food in a neat and orderly manner
- checks clients into the shelter
- prepares and monitors client intake
- prepares resident roster and maintains resident records
- monitors the activities of the shelter residents
- ensuring safety and compliance with house rules
- checks the security of the building and makes periodic rounds of entire building and records any information needed
- answers telephone and responds to questions regarding the shelter operations
- cleans, cooks and prepares a variety of meals in accordance with acceptable and economical cooking methods
- serves food in a presentable manner
- maintains proper supply and orderliness of kitchen stock inventory in order to meet the needs of the kitchen
