The Houseperson role at Hilton is a full-time position within the housekeeping department, critical to the hotel's overall cleanliness and guest satisfaction. This position focuses on the cleaning and maintenance of designated common areas, such as restrooms, public spaces, offices, and banquet or meeting rooms. The Houseperson ensures that these areas meet Hilton's exacting cleanliness and presentation standards, contributing to the hotel’s goal of delivering outstanding guest service and financial profitability. Responsibilities include various cleaning tasks such as dusting, polishing furniture and fixtures, vacuuming, mopping, sweeping floors, shampooing carpets, washing windows, cleaning and waxing floors, and proper waste disposal.

Beyond routine cleaning, the Houseperson plays an essential role in guest relations by greeting guests warmly and responding to their requests promptly. This role also involves reporting maintenance issues to ensure the hotel infrastructure remains in excellent condition, stocking supply rooms, and assisting with more intensive deep-cleaning projects or special assignments. Occasionally, the Houseperson may assist with guest room cleaning or delivering guest requests, showcasing the teamwork and flexibility required in a hotel environment.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in housekeeping or janitorial roles
  • Ability to follow instructions and procedures
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good physical stamina and ability to handle cleaning equipment
  • Availability to work full-time including weekends and holidays
  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Ability to report maintenance issues promptly

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous housekeeping or cleaning experience preferred
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays

  • Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies
  • Physical ability to perform manual cleaning tasks and lift moderate weights

Job Duties

  • Clean designated areas including restrooms, public areas, offices, and banquet/meeting/conference rooms
  • Dust and polish furniture and fixtures
  • Vacuum, mop, sweep, and shampoo carpets
  • Wash windows and clean/wax floors
  • Remove and dispose of trash and empty ashtrays
  • Greet guests in a friendly manner
  • Report maintenance deficiencies and items needing repair
  • Stock and maintain supply rooms
  • Perform deep cleaning tasks and special projects
  • Deliver guest requests and assist in cleaning guest rooms as needed
