Job Requirements

- experience preferred
- ability to understand and follow instructions
- ability to communicate effectively
- ability to interact tactfully and diplomatically with residents, families, visitors, and co-workers
- ability to properly use housekeeping and kitchen equipment including vacuum, mop, housekeeping cart, and steam tables
- able to perform physical job demands such as standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and bending for at least 80 percent of the time
- capable of occasional lifting and carrying of objects weighing 20-50 lbs and pushing objects up to 150 lbs
- able to work in a clean, well-lighted environment with exposure to noise, odors, dust, fumes, and cleaning chemicals
- must comply with OSHA, EPA, and health department regulations
- must pass Adult Care Home Food Service Orientation
- able to follow infection control procedures
- willing to receive annual influenza vaccination and TB skin test unless exempted

Job Duties
- Performs general housekeeping duties including cleaning resident rooms, common areas, pantries, dining rooms, break rooms, beauty shop, and other support spaces
- maintains the facility in a sanitary and infection-free condition by washing, cleaning, and replacing equipment and furnishings
- vacuums and cleans all corridors, floors, lobby, emergency exits daily
- checks vacant rooms frequently to maintain freshness
- follows a daily cleaning schedule with a minimum of five rooms per day
- cleans all air vents and washes interior windows as scheduled
- operates mechanized cleaning equipment such as vacuums and carpet cleaners, ensuring proper maintenance of all equipment and supplies
- reports needed repairs immediately to the supervisor
- responsible for disposal of sharps containers
- follows infection control procedures related to housekeeping and food service
- handles and uses cleaning solvents and chemicals according to instructions and complies with OSHA, EPA, and health department regulations
- routinely checks for spills and water in resident areas, especially bathrooms
- follows procedures for handling and disposing of blood and infectious materials as per OSHA standards
- maintains resident confidentiality
- assists with plating and serving resident meals as needed
- cleans dining areas after meal service
- completes required in-services, training, and education
- may fill in at reception desk when needed
- performs additional duties assigned by the Director
