Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- ability to work evening shifts from 3 PM to 11:30 PM
- availability to work weekends every week for the first two years
- capability to perform physical cleaning tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
- adherence to safety protocols and use of cleaning chemicals
- ability to maintain hygiene standards and follow documentation procedures
- willingness to assist in emergency situations such as floods and snow
- must be able to work in a diverse and inclusive environment
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- completion of an appropriate work training program preferred
- knowledge of cleaning and sterilization techniques and procedures
- ability to comply with occupational health and safety assessments and fit testing
- prior experience in a healthcare or similar environment is advantageous
Job Duties
- Cleans hospital premises using specified cleansing techniques and chemicals while adhering to time frames
- cleans patient rooms including beds and tables in accordance with cleanliness standards
- prepares rooms for discharge by removing linen and non-clinical items
- dusts and polishes furniture and equipment including tables, desks, chairs, filing cabinets
- cleans venetian blinds, window sills, cabinets, closets, walls, baseboards, and doors
- arranges and rearranges furniture before and after cleaning
- washes bathtubs, sinks, tiles, toilets and replenishes disposable items such as soap, toilet paper, and paper towels
- sweeps, mops, burnishes rooms and corridors and vacuums designated areas
- empties and cleans trash receptacles and wastepaper baskets, gathers and disposes of refuse, disposes of red bag waste according to guidelines
- maintains housekeeping supply closet in good order and requests cleaning supplies as needed
- performs documentation related to specialty cleaning areas such as OR, Cath Lab, Pharmacy, Endo
- assists with flood, snow and other emergencies as required
- works every weekend for the first two years
