Job Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Ability to use and work with cleaning products, chemicals and solvents using company provided safety equipment
- Ability to tolerate a fast-paced environment with regular exposure to cigarette smoke and loud noise
- Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects weighing up to 50 lbs and occasionally up to 80 lbs
- Ability to use tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity
- Ability to communicate via radios and pagers
- Ability to walk, bend, crouch and work for sustained periods maintaining attention to detail
- Regular exposure to different elements including wind, rain and sunlight
- Ability to ascend or descend ladders, scaffolding, ramps and use high lift equipment
- Ability to walk, stand, or crouch on narrow, slippery or moving surfaces
- Ability to distinguish between shades of color, requires close, distance, color and peripheral vision and depth perception
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Three to six months minimum related experience or training in public area cleaning or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of carpet cleaning equipment, high speed buffers, power wash equipment and marble polishing
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal
- Ability to read, write, and understand simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
Job Duties
- Regularly cleans items such as signs, ceiling vents, fans, walls, elevators, escalators, TVs, light fixtures, windows at heights up to 25 feet using ladders or lifts
- Scrubs, polishes, disinfects, and wipes items including trashcans, concrete, carpet, furniture and fixtures
- Uses heavy commercial or industrial equipment to clean floors, decks, carpets, sidewalks and parking areas
- Uses chemicals, cleansers and solvents with appropriate safety equipment and follows Material Safety Data Sheets
- Assists with lifting and moving heavy items including furniture and boxes as required
- Maintains and handles equipment safely, reports malfunctions or damage to supervisors immediately
- Fills chemical bottles and prepares cleaning equipment as needed
- Cleans, stores and maintains equipment according to manufacturer instructions and department training
- Handles and disposes of biohazardous materials in compliance with OSHA training
- Performs other duties as assigned
