Job Requirements

  • High school graduation or GED equivalent
  • Minimum one year of related housekeeping or laundry experience
  • Experience in health care preferred
  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • Willingness to work with mentally impaired adults
  • Fingerprinting and background check clearance from the Department of Justice
  • Availability for on-call shifts including evenings and weekends

Job Qualifications

  • High school graduation or GED equivalent
  • One year of related housekeeping or laundry experience, preferably in health care
  • Knowledge of housekeeping and laundry tools and equipment
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • Willingness to work with mentally impaired adults
  • Knowledge of Professional Assault Response Training (PART) principles
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Understanding of infection control and safety procedures
  • Good interpersonal skills

Job Duties

  • Perform sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, buffing, stripping, waxing, shampooing, and cleaning floor surfaces daily as directed
  • Clean and dust furniture, closets, telephone areas, and vents
  • Clean and sanitize resident rooms, dayrooms, nursing stations, offices, and utility rooms daily
  • Polish and sanitize sinks, counters, stainless steel surfaces and waste receptacles
  • Empty waste receptacles and clean solid waste containers
  • Wash mops, rags, and linen as necessary
  • Wash windows and walls including removal of draperies and rugs
  • Move and arrange furniture as needed
  • Distribute laundry from the clean linen closet to nursing staff
  • Collect soiled laundry containers from nursing areas
  • Employ principals of contamination and infection control procedures
  • Participate in containment of assaultive behavior upon request
  • Participate as a team member and provide input
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Professional Assault Response Training (PART) to manage aggressive behavior
  • Use equipment and supplies properly
  • Maintain cooperative working relationships
  • Seek continuous improvements and practice universal precautions
  • Demonstrate knowledge of customer and community relations
  • Complete and follow tasks and meeting deadlines
  • Understand and comply with attendance policies
  • Attend in-service education and maintain professional dress
