Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Four years housekeeping/laundry experience preferably in a hotel of similar size and complexity including supervisory experience
- Some college preferred
- Fluent in English
- Ability to carry or lift up to 50 pounds and push or pull approximately 200 pounds
- Frequent standing and moving about the facility
- Frequent handling of objects and equipment
- Frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling
- Strong communication skills for interacting with guests, employees, and third parties
- Proficient reading and writing skills
- Basic math skills including budgeting and profit/loss concepts
- Problem solving, reasoning, motivational, organizational, and training abilities
- May work nights, weekends, and/or holidays
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum four years housekeeping/laundry experience preferably in a hotel of similar size and complexity including supervisory experience
- Some college preferred
- Must speak fluent English
- Other languages preferred
- Strong communication skills
- Reading and writing abilities
- Mathematical skills including budgeting and profit/loss concepts
- Problem solving and organizational skills
- Ability to train and motivate staff
Job Duties
- Manage the housekeeping and laundry operation to ensure product quality standards are met and optimum service is provided to hotel guests according to hotel and company objectives
- Manage the day-to-day activities of the housekeeping department, plan, schedule, and organize work to ensure proper coverage
- Communicate and enforce policies and procedures
- Recommend and/or initiate salary, disciplinary, or other staffing/human resources-related actions in accordance with company rules and policies
- Ensure all staff is properly trained and has the tools and equipment needed to effectively carry out their respective job duties
- Develop and implement procedures for managing the quality of housekeeping and laundry services
- Schedule routine inspections of all guest rooms and public areas to ensure cleanliness and good repair to meet guest satisfaction
- Monitor, coordinate and execute the special needs and requests of VIP, repeat guests and members of frequency program(s)
- Respond to guest complaints and special requests, and ensure corrective action is taken to achieve complete guest satisfaction
- Control expenses within all areas of housekeeping
- Participate in the preparation of the annual departmental operating budget and financial plans
- Conduct comprehensive departmental meetings and pre-shift meetings
- Establish par levels for supplies and equipment
- Promote teamwork and quality service through communication and coordination with other departments including Front Office, Guest Relations, Maintenance, and Food and Beverage
- May be responsible for lost and found items or coordinate that function
- Assist with deep cleaning projects and housekeeping staff during unanticipated rush periods
- Serve as manager on duty as required
- Perform other duties as assigned
