Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • Maintain professional demeanor and courteous interaction with guests and staff
  • Establish and maintain effective communication and teamwork with colleagues and other hotel departments
  • Adhere to all operational standards, policies, procedures, and instructions
  • Maintain open communication with employees and provide support
  • Inspect guest rooms, public spaces, exteriors, and back-of-house areas daily and make adjustments as necessary
  • Coordinate with Maintenance Department regarding rooms that require maintenance and managing out-of-order status
  • Monitor housekeeping staff to ensure timely room cleanliness for prompt guest check-in
  • Brief associates on daily housekeeping needs and assignments
  • Address guest complaints promptly and implement service recovery procedures to ensure guest satisfaction
  • Possess thorough knowledge of the Property Management System (PMS)
  • Schedule employees based on forecasted business and coordinate staffing levels
  • Provide ongoing customer service, technical, and safety training for housekeeping staff
  • Conduct routine inspections of guest rooms, corridors, and public areas to maintain high standards
  • Supervise laundry operations and manage outsourced relationships as needed
  • Monitor compliance with safety standards across assigned departments
  • Coordinate room availability with the Front Office Manager
  • Evaluate and develop employee performance through supervision, counseling, evaluations, goal setting, and rewards
  • Maintain current information on hotel rates, packages, and promotions for staff awareness
  • Manage room blocking and labor costs during low occupancy periods
  • Establish and manage par levels for supplies, linen, uniforms, and equipment
  • Complete requisitions and manage department budget including balancing checkbooks
  • Develop action plans to correct any identified deficiencies
  • Set clear job expectations and hold staff accountable
  • Understand and meet the needs of both guests and internal customers
  • Maintain employee documentation and ensure compliance with safety and emergency procedures including OSHA guidelines
  • Attend relevant meetings and contribute to departmental communication and strategy development
