Job Qualifications

  • Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma or GED
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
  • Must have the ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions, and accept constructive criticism
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public
  • Must maintain the care and use of supplies and equipment, and maintain the appearance of housekeeping areas
  • Must perform regular inspections of resident rooms/units for sanitation, order, safety, and proper performance of assigned duties
  • Must be willing to work harmoniously with other personnel and handle residents appropriately
  • Successful completion of background check, pre-employment physical, and drug screening
  • No prior experience required as on-the-job training will be provided

Job Duties

  • Ensure that work/cleaning schedules are followed as closely as practical
  • Report all accidents/incidents to supervisor
  • Coordinate daily housekeeping services with nursing services when performing routine cleaning assignments in resident living and/or recreational areas
  • Follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies
  • Wear and/or use safety equipment such as back braces and mechanical lifts when lifting or moving heavy objects
  • Ensure that assigned work areas are maintained in a clean, safe, comfortable, and attractive manner
  • Keep work/assignment areas free of hazardous objects such as protruding mop/broom handles and unnecessary equipment
  • Follow proper techniques when mixing chemicals, disinfectants, and cleaning solutions according to manufacturer’s instructions
