Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in healthcare
  • Experience in maternal/child healthcare preferred
  • Ability to follow policies and procedures
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to work night shifts
  • Attention to detail
  • Physical ability to perform cleaning and transporting tasks

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 1 year of experience in healthcare environment preferably in maternal/child units

Job Duties

  • Cleans patient rooms after vaginal deliveries
  • Cleans operating rooms after each case and performs terminal cleaning
  • Transports specimens using specimen logbook
  • Transports and discharges patients
  • Adheres to standard precautions in daily activities
  • Cleans wheelchairs after use
  • Passes and picks up meal trays
  • Monitors cleaning supplies and advises supervisor on reordering
  • Maintains linen cart neat and covered
  • Maintains cleanliness of patient pantry, lounges, restrooms, call rooms, and offices daily
  • Adheres to infant abduction prevention program
  • Follows bereavement policy
  • Transports body to morgue and logs it
  • Takes blood specimens as needed
  • Available during emergencies to take specimens or obtain supplies
  • Checks formula expiration dates and removes expired formula
  • Monitors supplies for par levels and notifies nurse
  • Cleans incubators and radiant warmers
  • Maintains supplies for handwashing at unit and entry points
  • Monitors blankets and gowns par levels and notifies linen services
  • Performs all other tasks related to housekeeping duties in Labor and Delivery unit
