Job Requirements
- Able to understand and carry out instructions
- Able to identify and follow directions for chemicals used in duties
- Dependable and motivated to complete duties without constant supervision
- Physical ability to perform medium work involving exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations relevant to the position
- Adherence to safety practices including incident reporting and use of PPE
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect patient privacy
- Willingness to participate in quality and performance improvement activities
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Housekeeping or custodial experience preferred
- Knowledge of sanitation and infection control practices
- Ability to operate cleaning machines
- Understanding of safety standards and procedures
- Good communication skills
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently
- Commitment to organizational values and ethical standards
Job Duties
- Cleans and sanitizes patient rooms, baths, offices, halls and other areas according to established standards
- Maintains cleanliness to limit cross infection
- Cleans surfaces including walls, furniture, tile, fixtures and equipment with appropriate solutions
- Removes trash and refills dispensers following infection control standards
- Notifies supervisor of low supplies and equipment malfunctions
- Follows safety guidelines and maintains safe conditions
- Sweeps, mops and polishes floors, vacuums and spot-cleans carpets
- Operates cleaning equipment both mechanical and electrical
- Organizes work efficiently, completing tasks during the shift without compromising quality
- Maintains a neat and orderly work area
- Adheres to sanitation and infection control standards
- Observes isolation and asepsis techniques
- Uses supplies and equipment as per guidelines
- Participates in performance improvement and quality initiatives
- Reports errors and safety incidents immediately
- Performs additional duties as assigned
