Job Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • ability to perform moderate physical effort including moving furniture and using powered cleaning equipment
  • valid state driver’s license may be required
  • must obtain NHG housekeeping certification within six months of employment
  • ability to complete safety and security training
  • availability to work full-time 35 plus hours weekly
  • good communication skills
  • reliable and punctual
  • ability to follow protocols and procedures
  • physical stamina for cleaning tasks

Job Qualifications

  • no prior experience required

Job Duties

  • Cleans guest rooms and other assigned areas
  • operates cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners, carpet cleaners, waxers, and polishers
  • empties wastebaskets, dusts, waxes, and polishes room furniture
  • washes walls, partitions, air vents, disinfects and deodorizes toilet bowls and lavatories
  • washes and replaces window treatments and cleans ceiling fixtures
  • changes light bulbs and room partitions using ladders and scaffolds
  • moves furniture to clean under and behind
  • cleans bathroom and kitchen areas including appliances and floors
  • cleans and ensures proper functionality of luggage racks and ensures availability of hangers
  • ensures TVs and alarm clocks are properly programmed and in-room phones are clean and functional
  • places proper number of amenities in rooms
  • removes and replaces bed linen, inspects mattresses and sofas
  • greets and welcomes guests maintaining outstanding guest relations
  • ensures privacy and security of guests
  • cleans, vacuums, and mops corridors, stairways, laundry rooms, patios, and balconies
  • performs deep cleaning tasks including carpet shampooing and spot treatment
  • maintains cleanliness and order of storage rooms
  • communicates status of cleaned rooms to supervisor
  • accomplishes minor repairs of equipment and reports major repairs
  • cleans and inspects exterior spaces such as parking lots and passageways
  • may load and unload trucks and assist with receipt of supplies
  • responsible for pass key and other keys, returning all keys after shifts
  • reports unusual circumstances immediately such as extra guests or unauthorized pets
  • reports lost and found items promptly
  • may assist with breakfast bar setup and cleanup following safety standards
  • completes all required safety and security training
  • performs laundry operations
  • may require valid driver’s license for travel
  • obtains housekeeping certification within six months
  • performs other assigned duties
