Job Duties
- Vacuums carpeted surfaces, damp mops hard surface floors
- Assists the supervisor in orientating new housekeeping assistants to the department
- Performs general and heavy cleaning duties in offices, patient rooms, clean and soiled utility rooms, laboratories, public areas, and stairways using hospital approved chemicals
- Cleans window sills, empties ash trays and waste baskets
- Cleans blood and body fluids
- Cleans and arranges furniture in patient rooms, baths, offices, waiting and public areas
- Cleans bathtubs, sinks, mirrors, toilets and restocks supplies
- Utilizes ladders and scaffolds as necessary
- Strips, refinishes and/or shampoos floors using electric machinery
- Empties trash chutes and cleans waste containers
- Disposes of bio-hazardous waste properly
- Moves heavy furniture and equipment as directed
- Maintains and cleans equipment and returns to storage
- Operates floor scrubbing, shampooing, and buffing machines
- Transports hospital property between areas and buildings
- Uses Bed Tracking system for cleaning status updates
- Performs terminal cleaning of patient rooms and operating rooms
- Returns keys and pagers as required
- Advises supervisor of unsafe or unsanitary conditions
- Performs related duties as assigned
