Job Duties
- Vacuum carpets and damp mop hard surface floors
- assist supervisor in orienting new housekeeping staff
- perform general and heavy cleaning in patient rooms, offices, and public areas
- clean and disinfect blood and bodily fluids
- clean bathrooms including tubs, sinks, mirrors, and toilets
- clean window sills, ash trays, and waste baskets
- move and arrange furniture as needed
- operate scrubbing, shampooing, and burnishing machines
- maintain and clean cleaning equipment
- apply floor finishes and refinish floors
- empty trash chutes and waste containers
- properly dispose of biohazardous waste
- use Bed Tracking System to log bed cleaning status
- terminally clean patient rooms and operating rooms
- perform in-between case cleaning in operating rooms
- transport hospital property within the facility
- report unsafe or unsanitary conditions
- return keys and pagers after shifts
