Job Description
The Housekeeping Aide position at Los Angeles Community Hospital Norwalk is vital to maintaining the hospital and office buildings in a clean, safe, sanitary, orderly, and attractive condition free from offensive odors and health hazards. This role requires performing daily cleaning of patient areas, nursing stations, work areas, hallways, lounges, storage areas, laboratories, bathrooms, offices, and any other areas assigned by the Environmental Services Department. Job Requirements
- Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English
- hospital fire and life safety card required for Los Angeles city employees
- familiar with proper cleaning techniques
- ability to multitask and prioritize work
- must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job

- one-year environmental services experience preferred
- bilingual skills preferred
- previous healthcare experience preferred
Job Duties
- Ensures all check out and patient area cleaning is complete per all guidelines/procedures
- washes and wipes mattresses down, removes utensils from bedside, ensures all bed furniture floors walls closets restroom areas are cleaned per guidelines
- ensures clean linens are put on bed using appropriate bed making procedures
- reports needed repairs to engineering department
- cleans all non-patient areas as assigned including washing dusting mopping and vacuuming floors windows fixtures furniture bathrooms lights screens and blinds
- ensures dispensers are filled appropriately
- picks up soiled linen in all assigned areas in a timely manner
- ensures soiled linen is in securely tied plastic bags and placed in locked storage
- picks up trash and places in closed covered containers, cleans and relines trash cans, disposes of trash in appropriate dumpsters
- picks up infectious waste ensuring all infectious waste is double bagged securely tied and disposed in biohazard bins
- ensures glass buckets are securely covered and stored appropriately
- ensures dumpsters are kept locked and secured
- takes ownership of work and uses independent judgment
- demonstrates excellent customer service
- ensures infection control procedures and HIPAA compliance
