Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • previous housekeeping or cleaning experience preferred
  • knowledge of chemical handling and cleaning safety
  • ability to follow detailed cleaning procedures
  • physical ability to perform cleaning tasks including walking, standing, bending, and reaching
  • good vision including close and distance vision
  • ability to communicate clearly and professionally
  • proficiency with basic computer applications
  • ability to work full time
  • willingness to adhere to infection control and safety protocols

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • understanding of basic cleaning principles and chemical safety
  • effective communication skills with patients, families, and associates
  • ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals
  • ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • ability to speak effectively before groups
  • proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions
  • ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals

Job Duties

  • Sweep, damp mop, and wet mop tile floors
  • report to supervisor any carpeted areas that need cleaning or spot removal
  • vacuum carpeted rooms as applicable
  • dust and damp clean surfaces in patient rooms
  • empty trash cans, clean exterior and interior, replace can liners
  • clean bathroom sinks, fixtures, and toilets
  • clean glass surfaces such as mirrors, pictures, and windows
  • clean behind and underneath furnishings
  • move furniture to clean behind and underneath
  • turn bed mattresses after cleaning
  • clean dining area after breakfast and lunch, wipe tables, sweep, mop
  • change soiled privacy curtains and draperies for outside windows
  • remove and rehang curtains using a ladder
  • sweep outside porches, walkways, pick up trash
  • follow cleaning schedules set by the supervisor
  • follow infection control standards
  • use isolation techniques as needed
  • recognize patient rights and treat patients and belongings with dignity
  • safeguard chemicals used, keeping them locked or in sight
  • follow precautions on MSDS for chemicals used
  • assist in the care and use of housekeeping equipment and supplies
  • clean and properly store equipment at end of shift
  • inspect equipment before use
  • report equipment repairs to Maintenance
  • maintain adequate supplies in bathrooms
  • prevent and remove wax and dirt build-up in corners and doorways
  • promote the image and reputation of the system by exhibiting servant leadership
  • contribute to committees, workgroups, and projects
  • perform other duties as necessary to ensure system success
