Job Requirements
- At least one to three months of on-the-job training plus formal and ongoing classroom education
- Physical capability to perform heavy lifting, pushing, stooping and climbing
- Must adhere to safety policies and procedures
- Ability to handle exposure to unpleasant odors and medical waste hazards
- Must be able to operate cleaning machinery safely
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English
Job Qualifications
- Ability to follow instructions and observe safety precautions
- Proficient in preparing cleaning solutions as directed
- Skilled in assembling and operating various cleaning equipment
- Ability to read, write, understand and speak English
- Experienced in safe operation and maintenance of both motorized and manual cleaning machinery
- Capable of performing physical tasks including lifting and maneuvering heavy equipment
Job Duties
- Performs heavy cleaning duties including shampooing carpets and refinishing floors
- Dusts and cleans high and hard-to-reach surfaces
- Washes and disinfects hospital lavatories including sinks, toilets, and showers
- Prepares specialized rooms such as burn and radiation rooms with protective coverings
- Handles rubbish and soiled linen disposal and manages waste containers and rubbish trucks
- Cleans outdoor areas including sidewalks, entrances, and applies salt to prevent slipping
- Assists in equipment maintenance and minor repairs as well as setup for meetings and events
