Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least one to three months of on-the-job training plus classroom training
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 400 pounds
  • Ability to follow established safety protocols
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Willingness to work evening shifts, weekends, and holidays as scheduled
  • No driving required
  • Union membership as part of the International Brotherhood Teamsters

Job Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of safety and cleaning procedures
  • Ability to prepare cleaning solutions and operate cleaning equipment
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
  • Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision
  • Completion of formal and on-the-job training
  • Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and operate equipment
  • Experience in a healthcare or institutional cleaning role preferred
  • Knowledge of chemical handling and waste disposal procedures

Job Duties

  • Perform heavy cleaning duties following Environmental Services Department procedures
  • Shampoo carpets, upholstery, and refinish floors
  • Dust vents, lights, pipes, ceilings, and wash windows safely
  • Clean miscellaneous items such as wastebaskets and television sets
  • Disinfect sinks, toilets, floors, urinals, and hospital lavatories
  • Service and refill soap and paper dispensers
  • Prepare burn and radiation rooms with protective coverings
  • Clean and disinfect beds, mattresses, and patient furniture
  • Collect, transport, and dispose of rubbish and soiled linens properly
  • Operate motorized cleaning equipment including floor buffers and pressure sprayers
  • Assist nursing personnel in moving beds and furniture
  • Clean sidewalks and entrances, including snow and salt removal
  • Change cubicle curtains and window blinds, performing minor repairs
  • Support supply clerks and manage inventory
  • Assist with conference room setups and perform laundry duties as needed
