Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent preferred
- 1-3 months of on-the-job training plus formal classroom training
- physical ability to perform continuous walking, standing, lifting up to 400 pounds, stooping, climbing ladders
- ability to work evening shifts including weekends and holidays
- knowledge of safety and infection control procedures
- ability to work in environments with unpleasant odors and exposure to hazardous materials
- no requirement for driving
- willingness to carry communication devices such as beeper or two-way radio
- ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment

- ability to prepare cleaning solutions as per procedure

Job Duties
- perform heavy cleaning duties in hospital setting
- shampoo carpets and upholstery
- refinish floors using manual and motorized devices
- dust high vents, lights, pipes, and ceilings
- wash windows using ladders or safety devices
- clean wastebaskets, television sets, fans, rubber mats
- wash and disinfect sinks, toilets, floors, urinals, bedpan racks, bathtubs, showers
- service and refill soap and paper dispensers
- prepare burn and radiation rooms with protective covering
- clean beds, mattresses, and sleeping carts
- pick up and dispose of rubbish and soiled linen
- operate rubbish chute rooms and waste disposal
- wash rubbish trucks and perform minor maintenance
- operate bailer equipment
- clean and polish walls, woodwork, furniture, brass fittings, and elevator doors
- remove and transport animal waste and linens
- assist nursing personnel with moving beds and furniture
- clear snow and salt from sidewalks
- change cubicle curtains and draperies
- clean construction areas after renovations
- carry and use communication devices as requested
- assist supply clerks and set up conference rooms
- perform housekeeping aide and laundry aide duties as required
