Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • minimum one to three months of relevant on-the-job training
  • physical fitness to handle strenuous cleaning tasks including lifting, carrying, pushing up to 400 pounds
  • ability to work in various weather conditions and handle exposure to cleaning chemicals and potential hazards
  • good communication skills in English
  • willingness to work day shifts including weekends and holidays
  • no driving required
  • ability to use two-way radios or beepers as needed

Job Duties

  • perform floor, carpet, and upholstery cleaning using manual and motorized equipment
  • handle waste disposal including hazardous and chemo waste
  • clean hospital lavatories including sinks, toilets, and floors
  • prepare radiation and burn rooms by laying protective coverings
  • clean and disinfect beds, mattresses, and patient furniture
  • remove and dispose of rubbish and soiled linens
  • operate equipment like floor buffers, wet vacuums, and rubbish carts
  • maintain outdoor areas by clearing snow, salt, and debris
  • change cubicle curtains and clean window blinds
  • assist supply clerks and perform inventory duties
  • support nursing personnel in moving beds and furniture as needed
  • adhere to safety protocols in all cleaning and equipment operations
