Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • At least one to three months of on the job training in cleaning procedures
  • Ability to follow safety protocols diligently
  • Physical capability to walk, stand, lift, push, stoop, and climb stairs and ladders
  • Ability to work evening shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Good communication skills in English
  • No driving required
  • Willingness to work in a hospital environment with exposure to cleaning chemicals and contaminated materials
  • Ability to carry and operate communication devices if necessary

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to follow instructions and observe safety precautions
  • Ability to prepare cleaning solutions and assemble necessary cleaning equipment
  • Ability to read, write, understand and speak English
  • Ability to perform basic counting
  • At least one to three months of on the job training plus formal and ongoing classroom training

Job Duties

  • Undergo classroom and on the job training for above floor and floor care cleaning procedures and equipment operation
  • Dust mop and damp mop all hard floor surfaces
  • Vacuum all carpets, runners, rugs and chairs
  • Dust and disinfect all patient room furniture including chairs and television sets
  • Clean all other furniture throughout the hospital complex
  • Dust, wash, and disinfect window sills, blinds, shades, countertops, doors, lights, vents, walls, hung items, mirrors, glass, wastebaskets, and vinyl chairs
  • Wash and disinfect sinks, toilets, urinals, bedpan racks, bathtubs, showers and refill soap and paper dispensers
  • Clean beds, mattresses, and sleeping carts thoroughly
  • Pick up and dispose of rubbish and soiled linen properly
  • Wash or spot wash walls and polish woodwork, furniture, brass fittings, stainless steel elevator doors, kick plates, etc.
  • Remove spots from carpets and furniture using safe spotting systems
  • Buff and polish floors manually and with motorized devices as needed
  • Take laundry linen inventory by physically counting and documenting
  • Carry and use a beeper or two-way radio if required
  • Assist in the preparation of Radiation Rooms (I-131)
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or group leader
