Job Duties

  • perform heavy cleaning duties in hospital to maintain sanitary conditions
  • shampoo carpets and upholstery and refinish floors using E.S.D. procedures
  • dust high vents, lights, ceilings, and wash window glass
  • clean lavatories including sinks, toilets, and bedpan racks
  • service and refill soap and paper dispensers
  • prepare burn and radiation rooms with protective coverings
  • clean beds, mattresses, and patient carts thoroughly
  • pick up and dispose of rubbish and soiled linens properly
  • operate rubbish trucks and bailer equipment
  • clean and polish furniture and stainless steel fittings
  • remove and transport animal waste and laundry
  • assist nursing staff in moving patient furniture
  • clean sidewalks and entrances, apply salt during winter
  • change curtains and wash window blinds
  • clean construction areas post-renovation
  • assist supply clerks and perform related duties
  • set up conference rooms for meetings
  • take laundry linen inventory
  • perform housekeeping aide and laundry aide duties as required
