Job Requirements
- Ability to work every other weekend
- Physical exertion including standing, walking, stooping, kneeling and bending for at least 80% of the time
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing 20-50 lbs and push objects up to 150 lbs
- Ability to work in environments with exposure to noise, odors, dust, fumes and cleaning chemicals
- Ability to work in a clean, well-lighted environment
- Ability to understand and follow instructions
- Ability to operate housekeeping and kitchen equipment
- Ability to comply with infection control and safety regulations
- Willingness to receive annual influenza vaccination and TB skin test unless exempted
- Ability to maintain resident confidentiality at all times
Job Qualifications
- No formal education required
- Experience in housekeeping preferred
- Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively
- Familiarity with housekeeping equipment such as vacuums and mops
- Ability to pass Adult Care Home Food Service Orientation
- Ability to work with cleaning chemicals and follow OSHA standards
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to interact tactfully and humanistically with residents and co-workers
Job Duties
- Perform general and thorough housekeeping duties in resident rooms, common areas, pantries, dining rooms and support spaces
- Maintain sanitary, infection-free conditions through cleaning and equipment upkeep
- Vacuum and clean all corridors floors, lobby, emergency exits daily
- Frequently check vacant rooms to keep fresh
- Follow daily cleaning schedule including minimum of 5 rooms per day
- Clean air vents and wash interior windows as scheduled
- Operate and maintain mechanized cleaning equipment like vacuums and carpet cleaners
- Report needed repairs immediately to supervisors
- Dispose of sharps containers following protocols
- Follow infection control procedures related to housekeeping and food service
- Handle cleaning chemicals and solvents properly according to instructions and safety regulations
- Periodically check areas for spills and hazards, especially in resident bathrooms
- Follow procedures for handling, cleaning and disposal of blood or infectious materials
- Maintain resident confidentiality at all times
- Engage with residents to elicit food choices and assist with plating and serving meals
- Clean dining room after meal service
- Attend required trainings and complete in-services
- Occasionally fill in at reception desk
- Perform additional duties assigned by the Director
