Job Requirements

  • Must be able to read, write, and comprehend basic written instructions in English
  • must be able to comprehend verbal instructions and speak/reply in English
  • 3+ months of cleaning experience in a healthcare setting is preferred
  • work requires analytical ability to read, understand instructions, add and subtract numbers, and make comparisons
  • must be able to safely move, lift, push, pull up to 50 lbs. individually
  • requires working with cleaning chemicals and products safely
  • must be able to perform repetitive motions such as sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, and other cleaning motions

Job Duties

  • Receives cleaning assignments
  • requests cleaning materials and supplies
  • mixes cleaning solutions
  • loads service cart and transports to work areas
  • cleans assigned areas using germicidal cleaning solutions
  • scours and polishes sinks, tubs, toilets, mirrors, and similar fixtures
  • strips, cleans, and makes beds with fresh linens upon patient dismissal
  • cleans furniture and disposes of refuse by emptying wastebaskets
  • restocks supplies such as soap, tissues, and towels
  • sweeps and mops floors in patient rooms and offices
  • vacuums and spot cleans carpets
  • arranges furniture and equipment orderly after cleaning
  • dry and wet mops large floor areas
  • operates buffing equipment
  • cleans and maintains sanitation equipment
  • reports equipment needing repair
  • visually inspects cleaned areas
  • returns unused supplies to utility room
  • cleans carts and equipment
  • performs heavy-duty cleaning of floors and carpets using mechanical equipment
  • washes, scrubs, and disinfects walls, windows, and doors
  • removes stains using appropriate methods
  • gathers refuse and transports to compactor or holding area
  • segregates refuse according to sanitation procedures
  • moves furniture and equipment using handcarts or dollies
