Job Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship
  • suitable for federal employment verified by background investigation
  • selective service registration for males born after 12/31/1959

Job Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to perform janitorial and custodial duties
  • experience operating light and heavy cleaning equipment
  • knowledge of cleaning and disinfecting protocols in healthcare environments
  • ability to work independently with general supervision

  • physical ability to perform continuous walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, pulling, and pushing
  • demonstrated dexterity and hand-eye coordination
  • ability to follow directions accurately

Job Duties

  • Performs floor maintenance, wall washing
  • cleans doors, doorframes, baseboard corners and edges, and stairwells
  • sweeps, dust mops, damp and wet mops, scrubs, strips, refinish, buffs, vacuums and extracts carpets and runners, spot cleans areas, and high and low dusting
  • utilizes pressure washers and industrial powered battery operated equipment
  • adjusts, cleans, and performs minor maintenance on cleaning equipment and changes attachments
  • empties trash and wastebaskets, replaces liners
  • transports general refuse, regulated medical waste and recycling to central collection areas
  • cleans restrooms, bathrooms, and shower rooms including disinfecting and deodorizing
  • replenishes supplies of paper towels, toilet paper, hand sanitizers, and soap
  • moves and arranges furniture, patient wardrobes, beds to facilitate cleaning
  • provides bed-making services and cleans patient room furnishings
  • restocks and manages inventory of clean textile closets and carts
  • defrosts and cleans patient care refrigerators and ice machines
  • cleans stainless steel surfaces, elevators, ashtrays, and smoke stands
  • cleans and replaces needle boxes and periodically cleans specific non-critical reusable medical equipment
