Job Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship
  • suitable for federal employment as determined by background investigation
  • pass pre-employment drug urinalysis
  • selective service registration for males born after 12/31/1959
  • complete online onboarding and provide acceptable identification
  • complete all application requirements
  • pre-employment physical examination
  • participation in seasonal influenza vaccination program
  • serve 1-year probationary period
  • ability to perform physically demanding tasks involving walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, pulling, pushing
  • work indoors and occasionally outdoors
  • able to use heavy powered cleaning equipment
  • wear PPE as required for exposure to contagious diseases and hazardous materials

Job Duties

  • Performs the full range of cleaning tasks requiring use of powered cleaning equipment
  • uses cleaning chemicals
  • make beds, change linens, collect soiled linens, deliver clean linen and supplies
  • remove, transport, repackage, dispose and store general waste, regulated medical waste, chemotherapeutic waste and radioactive waste
  • check and replenish consumable supplies in the course of cleaning and servicing rooms and areas within the Medical Center
  • remove, transport, repackage, dispose and store sharps as a part of service rendered to clinics in patient rooms, and may replace filled sharps containers with empty containers
