Job Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship
  • Suitable for federal employment as determined by background investigation
  • Successful completion of drug screening
  • Selective Service registration for males born after 12/31/1959
  • Completion of online onboarding process and provision of acceptable identification documents
  • Willingness to complete one-year probationary period
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, pulling, and pushing
  • Ability to safely operate heavy powered cleaning equipment
  • Willingness to adhere to infection control and safety protocols
  • Commitment to comply with seasonal influenza vaccination requirement or exemption protocols
  • Ability to work full-time evening shifts from 2pm to 10:30pm Monday through Friday

Job Qualifications

  • Evidence of training or experience sufficient to perform the duties of the position
  • Ability to use powered cleaning equipment effectively
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safety protocols
  • Demonstrated dexterity and physical stamina
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and safety guidelines
  • Experience in housekeeping or custodial work preferred
  • Ability to handle waste materials safely including medical and hazardous waste
  • Good coordination and visual acuity
  • Reliability and dependability in work performance

Job Duties

  • Perform full range of manual and powered cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, polishing, dusting, sanitizing, decontaminating and disinfecting
  • Use powered cleaning equipment such as rotary buffers, floor stripping units, vacuum cleaners, pressure washers, steam cleaners, burnishers, automatic scrubbers, and carpet shampooing equipment
  • Apply cleaning chemicals including sanitizers, germicidal detergents, disinfectants, deodorizers, acid, alkaline and neutral cleaners, and metal polishes according to safety guidelines
  • Make beds, change and collect linens
  • Remove, transport, repackage, dispose, and store general, regulated medical, chemotherapeutic, and radioactive waste
  • Check and replenish consumable supplies like soap, hand towels, toilet tissue, and gloves
  • Safely handle and replace sharps containers in patient care areas
  • Adhere to infection control procedures and proper use of personal protective equipment
  • Maintain cleanliness standards across patient rooms, clinic areas, and administrative spaces
  • Report any safety hazards or maintenance needs to supervisors promptly
