Job Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Selective Service registration required for males born after 12/31/1959
  • Able to pass a background/security investigation
  • Pre-employment physical required
  • May be subject to a probationary period
  • Participation in seasonal influenza vaccination program required
  • Ability to complete online onboarding and provide acceptable identification
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts including weekends
  • Must meet OPM Federal Wage System qualifications
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, pulling, and pushing
  • Able to handle powered cleaning equipment safely

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in janitorial or custodial work preferred
  • Ability to perform physical labor including lifting and standing for extended periods
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and work independently
  • Good dexterity and safety awareness
  • Reliability and dependability in work attendance and performance

Job Duties

  • Perform light and heavy cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing floors, and vacuuming carpets
  • Clean patient wards, rooms, storerooms, offices, corridors, restrooms, and shower rooms
  • Empty waste baskets and properly dispose of trash
  • Change light bulbs in halls and rooms as needed
  • Wash walls, windows and ceilings using ladders as required
  • Refill toilet tissue and paper towel dispensers
  • Move furniture to clean floors and areas underneath
  • Carry out assignments with minimal supervision
  • Maintain safety and cleanliness in patient areas to support health environment
